Teachers and Pupils

The teachers and pupils of Chauffard are very welcoming and a pleasure to work with. They are very grateful to the people of Haiti in our Hands and to all the generous people that support us.

 The Teachers of Chauffard

There are 12 teachers in the school of Chauffard. They are extremely dedicated to giving the children as good an education as they possibly can under the tough conditions they experience.

Some teachers have been teaching at the school for a long time. Mrs Denise Beauduy, the 1st grade teacher, has been with the school for 37 years and Mrs Rosemise Imera, the 3rd grade teacher, has been with the school for 34 years. Other teachers have been there a relatively short period of time such as Mr Reynald Jean, the 2nd grade teacher, who has been with the school for 2 years or Miss Val Saint, who teaches kinder garden, has been with the school 2 years as well.

The School Children of Chauffard

The school children of Chauffard are very friendly and are a joy to be around. They lead a tough life living in Chauffard but they are very strong in spirit and find happiness in their situation. They have very few opportunities and many will follow their parents footsteps and take up a life of subsistence farming.

In any particular grade, the age range can vary greatly. Children will attend school in an given year only if they can afford it.   Therefore, it is not uncommon to find 12 and 13 year olds having attended only 3 or 4 years of school.
